چکیده
ABSTRACT The contamination of aquatic environments by microplastic has become a major threat to biodiversity. presence is documented in the fauna oceans, but, Amazon basin, reports on occurrence are few. present study surveyed fishes an area Peruvian Amazon. We sampled 61 specimens 15 commercial species from local markets city Iquitos, Loreto Department. detected total 2337 particles, 1096 gills and 1241 internal organs (esophagus, stomach, intestine, liver, gonads, pancreas, swim bladder heart). prevalence particles was 100% overall average abundance 38.3 per individual (17.9 20.3 organs). Most were found carnivorous fish. There no correlation particle with fish standard length weight. These results provided evidence degree region Iquitos.

Background and Objective: Marine pollution is growing due to human activities. Continuous increase in plastic production and poor management of plastic waste resulted in a significant increase of this contaminant in aquatic environments. This in turn led to the widespread presence of Microplastics (MPs) with a size of less than 5mm. Materials and Methods: In this study, frequency, distribution...
متن کاملLife-history characteristics of the large Amazonian migratory catfish Brachyplatystoma rousseauxii in the Iquitos region, Peru.
The main life-history traits of the dorado Brachyplatystoma rousseauxii, a large Amazonian catfish undertaking the largest migration known for a freshwater fish species (from the nursery area in the estuary of the Amazon to the breeding zones in the head waters of the western Amazon basin close to the Andes), were determined from a 5 year sampling of >15,000 specimens in the Peruvian Amazon. Th...
متن کاملAnnotated checklist of the mosquito species encountered during arboviral studies in Iquitos, Peru (Diptera: Culicidae).
A checklist of the mosquito fauna encountered during arboviral studies in Iquitos, Peru, is presented. A total of 16 genera, 30 subgenera, and 96 species were identified, including 24 species reported from Peru for the 1st time. Notations on the taxonomy and biology for 28 species are also provided.
متن کاملMosquitoes (Diptera: Culicidae) captured in the Iquitos area of Peru.
A mosquito capture program was initiated to study mosquito species and their potential for arboviral transmission in the Peruvian Amazon. More than 35,000 mosquitoes of 13 different genera and at least 25 species were captured in urban and sylvan sites in the Iquitos area. These findings represent the first published list of Peruvian mosquitoes since 1971 and the first such list from the Peruvi...
